Water, sanitation and hygieneYear to confirm

Water and sanitation in 13 schools

Running water and clean toilets for 13 schools in Peja and Deçan, work recognised by Rotary International with a Significant Achievement Award.

Water and sanitation in 13 schools

In many schools in the Peja region, toilets and washing facilities were a real health problem for pupils and teachers. Rotary Club Peja set out to fix that.

The project was planned for six schools. Because the funds were managed carefully and members put in many hours of volunteer work, a seventh school was added.

The project received Rotary International’s Significant Achievement Award. The award recognises outstanding club projects that address a significant need in their own community.

The work did not stop there. With partner clubs such as the Rotary Club of Skövde-Billingen in Sweden and the Rotary Club of Edwards, Rotary Club Peja has so far brought running water and renovated sanitation to 13 schools in the Peja and Deçan municipalities, and Peja Rotarians are committed to helping more.
