Rotary Club Peja and the Rotary Club of Skövde-Billingen in Sweden jointly funded running water and the renovation of toilets and washrooms in five schools in the Peja and Deçan municipalities.
When the Swedish Rotarians visited Peja to see the results, they found that the schools had very different starting points, but every one had had a sanitation problem. Thanks to Rotary, that problem was gone. Head teachers, teachers and above all the pupils welcomed the visitors with great joy. The Mayor of Peja also met the delegation to thank the Swedish club for making the project possible.
The project was funded by Rotary Foundation global grant GG1747756. One of the schools was the “Shaban Spahija” secondary school in Peja, where a plaque thanks both clubs.
