In the summer of 2023, floods struck Peja. A five-year-old child and his 26-year-old mother lost their lives, and many families lost their homes and belongings.
The club’s damage assessment committee visited the affected neighbourhoods and spoke with the families. It concluded that the fastest and most effective way to help was direct financial support. On 3 July 2023 the club distributed aid from its emergency flood fund to the families selected.
It was an emotional moment for the families and for the Rotarians. The families said Rotary was the fastest organisation to come to their aid. Club president Dr. Dardan N. Albani thanked Rotary Club Prizren and the Indio Sunrise Rotary Club in California for answering Peja’s call.
